hello world - 2026/02/01
welcome to ckrow.bar.
i know it's a little ugly, but it's up and alive! my goal right now is just to get it going, so i can start experimenting with how i want to use a personal site and the value that it brings me. i don't think anyone will see it in its current state, so it probably doesn't matter that much that i'm using raw html styling for now.
to be completely honest, i'm not too sure what i'll be posting here. after deleting most of my social media, i realized that there is a real need for me to be able to share snippets of my life (maybe problematically). it was nice being able to post photos from trips, new music i found, and little creative projects i was working on. hopefully, a site like this will allow me to continue doing that, while having full control over the way those posts are shared AND without all the expectations, optimization, and noise of traditional social media. i also think that by creating this page, i'll be able to explore long form public journalling; this was something that i originally wanted to do with my bluesky, but have had difficulties with as a result of character limits. alternatively, i see this potentially becoming a place where i can learn how to write opinion pieces (without the pretentiousness of certain other newsletter sites). that's the beauty of a fully custom website like this; the content is no longer dictated by the design choices of a specific platform, and i can choose to display whatever i want however i want.
that's probably all i'll write for today; bootstrapping was enough work. it might take a minute until i figure out how to not sound awkward when writing publicly again... please bear with me until i hit my stride!
excited to see where this project will go. even if this ends up just being me just shouting into the void, the possibility that you may be reading this is enough motivation for me to keep fostering this page. i want to be worth your time again, and this is step 1.
