the breakfast beagle - 2026/02/22
today, we made breakfast beagles. as the name suggests, they're breakfast bagels that are in the shape of beagles (as an aside, isn't it weird that we spell bagels with an -el, but beagles with an -le? i mean i guess this makes sense between american and commonwealth english, but you'd think that in america they'd call it a beagel for consistency). we followed a mcgriddle scheme, where we were effectively making a pancake sandwich, with sausage, egg, cheese, and maple in the middle. this was our first time making waffle art, so i was pretty impressed with the results despite it looking a bit fucked up. a big help in making these was having a griddle, which both provided a large enough surface, as well as had a cast iron nonstick surface that made it super easy to move and remove the pancakes around. got to also try longganisa, which i enjoyed quite a bit :)
here are some photos from the process!
